Rev. Eric Powell - Interim Minister
E-mail Rev. Eric

We welcome our new interim pastor, the Rev. Eric Powell.   Rev. Powell lives in his home town of Canonsburg, PA.   Upon graduating from Canon-McMillan High School, Eric went to Messiah College, near Harrisburg, and graduated in 1982 with a degree in Biblical Literature.  He then went on to Union Theological Seminary in Richmond, Virginia where he graduated with a Doctor of Ministry degree.  He was ordained to the Ministry of Word and Sacrament in the Presbyterian Church (USA) in 1986.  In 1992 he graduated from Ashland Theological Seminary in Ohio with a Master of Arts degree in Pastoral Counseling.

Rev. Powell has served congregations in West Virginia, Ohio and Pennsylvania.  He has also served various presbyteries as a committee member, chairperson of committees and member of councils, and takes an active part in the work of the whole Church.  Presently, he serves on the Congregational Mission Unit of Beaver-Butler Presbytery.  He enjoys teaching and preaching, and cares deeply for mission and evangelism.  For almost 10 years now Eric has served as an Intentional Interim Pastor, helping congregations rediscover their own sense of calling and mission as they make the transition from the leadership of one installed pastor to another.

Rev. Powell has two children who have been out on their own for a couple of years now, yet live in the area-Sarah and Ian.  Eric has a wide range of personal interests, most of which are centered in history and technology, especially pertaining to blacksmithing and narrow gauge steam railroads.  He is an Eagle Scout, a member of several historial societies including the Sons of the American Revolution, is active in a fraternal organization, and enjoys ballroom dancing as well as the outdoors-though for the past several years what little free time he has has been dedicated to restoring his 70 year old house.

Rev. Powell looks forward to getting to know us and serve us during this time of renewal and transition.  In addition to reaching him at the church, you may call him at his home:  724-743-3933 or email him at revdocpowell@verizon.net.
